Claude Team vs Enterprise: which plan to pick
Team covers most businesses up to 150 people. Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs and retention controls. Here is what each includes, what it costs and when to switch.
Short answer: Claude Team covers most Australian businesses of 2 to 150 people, including single sign-on, connectors and Claude Code. Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs, custom data retention and a Compliance API, needs at least 20 seats, and bills usage at API rates on top of the seat price.
Below is what each plan includes, what the price difference looks like in Australian and US dollars, when a business should move up, and what to set up in the first week. We checked every feature against Anthropic’s pricing page and support articles on 31 October 2026.
What each plan includes
This follows the comparison table on Anthropic’s pricing page. Single sign-on is on Team as well as Enterprise.
| Feature | Team | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Single sign-on (SSO) | Yes | Yes |
| Automatic user provisioning | Just-in-time (JIT) provisioning | JIT, plus SCIM directory sync |
| Audit logs | No | Yes |
| Custom data retention controls | No | Yes |
| Compliance API | No | Yes |
| Role-based access | No | Yes |
| Connectors, with admin controls | Yes | Yes |
| Claude Code | Yes | Yes |
| Usage analytics, central billing | Yes | Yes |
| Seat types | Standard and premium, mixed freely | One seat type |
| Pooled API credits | Up to US$500 a month | None listed |
| Seats | 2 to 150 | 20 minimum |
| Billing | Monthly or yearly, card | Yearly, card or ACH; invoicing on the sales-assisted tier |
Anthropic’s support pages agree on the part that matters most to an IT lead. JIT provisioning works on Team and Enterprise, while SCIM directory sync is Enterprise only. Anthropic’s page on Enterprise says it “includes everything in the Team plan” plus audit logs, custom retention, SCIM and the Compliance API.
Our own Claude for business page says Team has single sign-on and Enterprise adds SCIM, audit logs and retention control, which matches.
What the difference costs
Team is A$34 a standard seat a month billed yearly (US$20), or A$43 monthly (US$25). A premium seat is A$170 a month billed yearly (US$100), or A$213 monthly (US$125), with five times the usage of a standard seat. Australian prices include GST.
Enterprise is US$20 a seat a month billed yearly, about A$28 at A$1.42 to US$1, with a 20-seat minimum. That seat fee covers access only. Anthropic states it “doesn’t include any usage”, which is billed separately at API rates.
So at the minimum, 20 Enterprise seats is US$400 a month, about A$568 at A$1.42 to US$1, before tax and before any usage. Twenty Team standard seats billed yearly is A$680 a month with GST included, and usage inside the plan’s limits is part of that price. The Enterprise seat fee looks cheaper, but it is quoted before tax and leaves out usage. The total depends on how much your team uses Claude, so the only honest way to compare is to measure a month of real use on Team first. A light-use team can come out ahead on Enterprise, a heavy-use team usually does not.
Not sure which plan your team needs?
The seat price is the easy part. The settings take longer.
When to move from Team to Enterprise
Move when a requirement Team cannot meet shows up. Seat count alone is not a reason. These are the triggers we see:
- Someone needs an audit trail. Audit logs record user actions, system events and data access. Team has none.
- Your IT team wants accounts created and removed from the directory. That is SCIM. On Team you get JIT, which creates accounts at first sign-in but does not sync leavers from your directory.
- Policy sets how long chats are kept. Custom retention controls are Enterprise only.
- You need to pull usage data into your own systems. The Compliance API gives programmatic access to activity logs, chat histories and files.
- You are above 150 people. Team stops at 150 seats.
If none of those apply and you are under 150 people, stay on Team. You can move later, and Enterprise is not available below 20 seats anyway.
Which plan fits
Tick what your business needs and enter your seat count. This only reflects the rules above.
What to set up in week one
- Monday: owners and domain. Name two owners so one person leaving does not lock the account, then verify your email domain.
- Monday and Tuesday: SSO. Set up single sign-on first. Both JIT and SCIM depend on it, and assign everyone to the app in your identity provider before you save a provisioning setting, because users not assigned at save time are deprovisioned.
- Tuesday: seat types. Start everyone on standard and give premium seats only to people who hit limits.
- Wednesday: connectors. Turn on only the connectors you have approved, such as Google Drive, Microsoft 365 or Slack, using the admin controls.
- Thursday: Claude Code. Decide who gets it. It is included on every seat, so the question is who is allowed.
- Friday: a short usage policy and a baseline. One page on what must not go in, plus a look at usage analytics. On Enterprise that baseline is your usage bill.
