What does a RevOps consultant do, and what do they cost?

A RevOps consultant gets your teams onto one set of definitions, one pipeline and reports you can trust. In Australia you can hire, go fractional at about A$1,000 to A$1,800 a day, or use a HubSpot partner.

Sales & Solution Specialist

A RevOps (revenue operations) consultant makes your marketing, sales and customer teams run off the same data and the same definitions, so the pipeline report means the same thing to everyone who reads it. In the first 90 days that usually means an audit of your funnel and CRM data, agreed definitions for a lead, a qualified lead and each deal stage, a rebuilt pipeline, reporting the leadership team can trust, cleaner handoffs between teams, and fixes to the tools and integrations feeding it all.

In Australia you can buy that work three ways: hire a RevOps manager in house, bring in a fractional consultant for a few days a week, or use an agency or HubSpot partner. There is no SEEK salary page for a RevOps role, but the closest roles SEEK publishes sit at medians of $110,000 to $125,000 a year before on-costs. Fractional rates are rarely published. The one Australian figure we found, from consultant marketplace Expert360, is A$1,000 to A$1,800 a day, and it says those rates are indicative.

A good consultant leaves you with written definitions, a pipeline people use, and reports that trace back to the records behind them. If your team is small, your CRM is simple and your numbers already agree, you probably do not need one yet. The rest of this guide covers the work, the costs, the questions to ask and the red flags.

What does a RevOps consultant actually do in the first 90 days?

If RevOps itself is new to you, start with what RevOps actually is. In short: one set of numbers and one process from first enquiry to renewal, owned by someone.

A consultant's first three months should follow a fairly predictable order. Each step depends on the one before it, so a consultant who starts by building dashboards is building on whatever the old data says.

WeeksThe workWhat you should have at the end
1 to 3Audit the funnel and the data: where leads come from, how they move, where they stall, which fields are empty or duplicated, which reports disagreeA written list of what is broken, ranked by what it costs you
3 to 5Definitions: what counts as a lead, a qualified lead, an opportunity and a customer, agreed by sales and marketing leadsOne page of definitions both teams have signed off
5 to 8Pipeline stages with entry and exit conditions, required fields, and the stage where deals go cold named and trackedA pipeline where two people cannot disagree about which stage a deal is in
6 to 10Handoffs: marketing to sales, sales to delivery or service, with owners, timeframes and what gets passed acrossRouting and task rules, and a named owner for each handoff
8 to 12Reporting built off the cleaned data, plus fixes to the tools and integrations feeding itA short set of dashboards the leadership team runs the business from

The overlap in the weeks is deliberate. Handoff work often starts while the pipeline is still being rebuilt, and integration fixes come up the moment the audit finds a sync writing bad data.

Which numbers belong on those dashboards? Our list of the eight RevOps numbers to keep on one screen is a good starting set: lead response time, pipeline coverage, win rate by source, forecast accuracy and four more.

In-house, fractional or a partner: which way should you buy RevOps?

All three can do the work. They differ in how you pay, how fast they start, how deep they go and what happens when someone is away or leaves.

Plenty of 50 to 250 person businesses end up with a mix: a partner or consultant for the first 90 days of rebuild, then an internal owner who runs it day to day. Our guide to what a HubSpot admin, freelancer or partner costs covers that hybrid for ongoing HubSpot support. This post is about the RevOps role itself.

What does an in-house RevOps hire cost in Australia?

SEEK does not publish a salary page for a revenue operations manager, so we used the closest roles it and Robert Half do publish, checked on 5 November 2026:

  • Operations Manager, SEEK. Median $125,000, with the middle half of advertised salaries between $115,000 and $135,000.
  • Business Analyst, SEEK. Median $119,400, middle half $110,000 to $130,000. This is close to the analysis side of a RevOps role.
  • Salesforce Administrator, SEEK. Median $110,000, middle half $100,000 to $120,000. This is close to the systems side.
  • CRM Manager, Robert Half. 50th percentile of $101,000 in Brisbane, $103,000 in Melbourne and $109,000 in Sydney, excluding super and bonuses.

SEEK's figures come from salary ranges employers put in job ads, and some include super while others do not, so treat them as a guide. A RevOps manager who can do all of the 90 day work above mixes operations, analysis and systems skills, so in our view expect to pay toward the top of these ranges.

The roles closest to RevOps pay $109,000 to $125,000 at the midpoint
Operations Manager, SEEK median$125,000
Business Analyst, SEEK median$119,400
Salesforce Administrator, SEEK median$110,000
CRM Manager in Sydney, Robert Half 50th percentile$109,000

SEEK and Robert Half figures checked on 5 November 2026, before super and other on-costs. SEEK has no RevOps salary page, so these are the closest published roles.

A typical RevOps job description covers owning the CRM and its data, the definitions and pipeline stages, lead routing and handoffs, sales and marketing reporting, forecasting support, and the tools connected to the CRM. If an ad asks for all of that plus campaign management, it is two jobs.

Then add on-costs. Super is on top of salary, and payroll tax is a state or territory tax you pay once total wages pass your state's threshold. Add recruitment, equipment and leave cover. Our admin cost guide works through those on-costs line by line.

What does a fractional RevOps consultant charge per hour or day?

Most fractional consultants and agencies do not publish rates. The one Australian source we found that is specific to RevOps is Expert360's hiring guide:

  • RevOps specialist: A$1,000 to A$1,300 a day.
  • Senior RevOps consultant: A$1,300 to A$1,600 a day.
  • Principal or RevOps leader: A$1,600 to A$1,800 or more a day.

Expert360 says these rates are indicative, the page is undated, and it does not say whether they include GST. Over an eight hour day, they work out at about $125 to $225 an hour.

The day rate is only half of it. As an illustration, a senior consultant at $1,300 a day for two days a week costs about $10,400 over a four week month. What matters is what you get for those days, so ask every fractional consultant or agency:

  • What is the rate, and does it include GST?
  • How many days a week, for how long, and what is finished at the end of each month?
  • Do you build in the CRM yourself, or do you write the plan for someone else to build?
  • Who covers you when you are away?
  • What do we own when you leave: documents, definitions, admin access?

Agencies and HubSpot partners usually price RevOps as a project, a monthly partnership, or both. Our guide to monthly HubSpot RevOps partnerships in Australia covers how the monthly model works. We do not publish a monthly RevOps fee, because it depends on your hubs, integrations and how much your own team does. Our published HubSpot implementation ranges, ex GST, are $8,000 to $15,000 for a partner-led single hub, $15,000 to $35,000 for multi-hub with integrations, and $35,000 and up for revenue architecture.

How do you tell a good RevOps consultant from a bad one?

A good consultant asks about your sales process before they ask for admin access. Here is what to ask in the first conversation:

  • What do you look at first? The answer should be the data and the definitions. A tool recommendation in the first meeting is a warning sign.
  • Can you show us a pipeline and a dashboard you built? With client names removed if needed. You want to see the stage definitions and required fields, as well as the finished report.
  • Which CRM do you build in? A HubSpot RevOps consultant should know lifecycle stages, deal pipelines, workflows and the reporting tools well enough to build them, and know which features need a paid tier.
  • What will be written down at the end? Definitions, stage rules, field ownership and a change log, stored in your systems.
  • How will we know it worked? They should name the numbers they expect to move, such as lead response time or forecast accuracy, and when.

Red flags:

  • A dashboard rebuild before anyone has looked at the data feeding it.
  • No written definitions, or definitions only one team has agreed to.
  • A proposal priced only in hours, with no description of what will be finished.
  • Work done under a shared login, or an account you do not own.
  • A promise of revenue growth without the numbers they will measure it by.

Lifecycle stages are where many of these engagements go wrong first. Our guide to fixing lifecycle stages before you trust a forecast shows what good looks like.

When do you not need a RevOps consultant?

RevOps help earns its fee when several teams depend on the same data and the numbers do not agree. You can probably wait if:

  • Your team is small. A handful of sellers, one pipeline, and a founder who still sees every deal.
  • Your numbers already agree. Marketing and sales report the same lead counts and nobody keeps a private spreadsheet.
  • You need one build. A single integration or a new pipeline is a project with a clear end, and a partner or freelancer can scope it.
  • You have just gone live on a CRM. Give your team a few months of real use, then look at where the data breaks.

The point to bring someone in is when the leadership meeting spends more time arguing about which number is right than deciding what to do about it.

Frequently asked questions

What does a RevOps consultant do? A RevOps consultant gets marketing, sales and customer teams working from the same data and definitions. In the first 90 days that usually means a funnel and data audit, agreed definitions, rebuilt pipeline stages, cleaner handoffs, fixes to tools and integrations, and reporting the leadership team can trust.

How much does a RevOps consultant cost in Australia? Few consultants publish rates. Australian marketplace Expert360 lists indicative day rates of A$1,000 to A$1,800 for RevOps consultants, about $125 to $225 an hour over an eight hour day, without stating whether GST is included.

What is a fractional RevOps consultant? A fractional RevOps consultant works part time for your business, often one to three days a week, for a set period. You get senior experience without a full-time salary, but only on the days you pay for, so agree what will be finished each month.

What does a RevOps manager earn in Australia? SEEK has no RevOps salary page. The closest roles it publishes are Operations Manager at a median of $125,000, Business Analyst at $119,400 and Salesforce Administrator at $110,000, before super and other on-costs.

Should I hire a RevOps consultant or a HubSpot partner? If you need strategy and definitions and have people to build them, a consultant can work. If the fix also needs CRM build, integration and reporting work, a HubSpot partner covers both, and many businesses later hand day to day running to an internal owner.
